José Doroteo Arango Arámbula (San Juan del Río, Durango, June 5, 1878-Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, July 20, 1923), known by his pseudonym Francisco Villa or by his hypocoristic Pancho Villa, was a Mexican soldier who He stood out as one of the main leaders of the Mexican Revolution recognized as a popular icon of Mexican culture, whose military performance was decisive in the defeat of the regime of then-President Victoriano Huerta. Originally from the state of Durango, he was born in the Río Grande hacienda currently La Coyotada, San Juan del Río, on June 5, 18786 and was assassinated in an ambush in Hidalgo del Parral (Chihuahua) on July 20, 1923 at the hands of Jesús Salas Barraza.7 During the revolution was known as the Centaur of the North.
