Not too much later the arrano beltza was recovered by the abertzales (Basque nationalists) who, respecting the existing Navarre flag, and having the Basque territories on the other side of the Pyrenees their own territorial flags, began to consider the ikurriña as a flag only of the CAV (Basque Autonomous Community), and declared the arrano beltza as the future flag of the reunified Basque territories.
